Eurus Energy starts the Grid Storage Battery Business
～Start construction of our First Grid Storage Batteries in Fukuoka～

Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation is launching a grid storage battery business as a new business initiative, by leveraging its strengths cultivated in the wind power generation and solar power generation businesses.

This business enterprise aims to stabilize the supply and demand of electricity and further promote the introduction of renewable energy by connecting storage batteries to the power grid, storing electricity when there is a surplus and discharging it when there is a shortage of electricity. As a first step, on November 1, we started construction of grid storage batteries in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. ^※1

The Japanese government's goal of carbon neutrality by 2050 requires the expansion of renewable energy and its adoption as the main power source. However because of seasonal and weather impacts on the amount of electricity generated by some renewable energies, such as wind power and solar power, there are increasing expectations that grid storage batteries will be implemented as a regulating force that can respond to such fluctuations.

The grid storage batteries to be installed in this initial project are lithium-ion batteries with an output scale of 1.5MW and a storage capacity of 4.58MWh.
Eurus Energy Group will contribute to the stable supply of electricity through its new business area regulating power and trading in various power markets^※2.
This Tagawa City project will be the Eurus Energy Group’s first in the grid storage battery business, and is expected to start commercial operation in December 2023.

Based on our corporate philosophy, "Helping to Preserve the Global Environment by Disseminating and Expanding Clean Energy Technologies", Eurus will contribute to global environmental conservation and the creation of a sustainable society by stabilizing the supply and demand of electric power through the use of grid storage batteries and expanding the introduction of renewable energy.
