Commencement of Replacement Construction on Eurus Kamaishi Wind Farm

2023.08.01

Eurus Energy Kamaishi LLC, a group company of Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation, started reconstruction work on August 1st at Eurus Kamaishi Wind Farm, which had been operating in Kamaishi City, Tono City and Otsuchi Town in Iwate Prefecture.

The facility, which began commercial operation in December 2004 and had operated for nearly 20 years, temporarily terminated operation in March 2023 for the complete reconstruction work.

In the replacement project, 43 wind turbines (single output capacity of 1.0 MW) will be reconstructed with 11 wind turbines (single output capacity of 4.2 MW/ Vestas), one of the largest models in Japan. The wind farm will continue to effectively utilize abundant wind resources and contribute to the revitalization of the community.

Commercial operation is scheduled to start in April 2026, and all electricity generated will continue to be sold to the Tohoku Electric Power Network Co., Inc. The generated power is equivalent to the electricity consumed by approximately 31,000 average households, and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 44,000 tons per year.

Eurus Energy Group will proceed with the replacement work with the understanding and cooperation of local residents and other parties, while giving full consideration to environmental preservation and placing the highest priority on safety management.

Based on our corporate philosophy of "playing a role in global environmental conservation through the diffusion and expansion of clean energy", Eurus Energy Group will continue to contribute to global environmental conservation and the creation of a sustainable society through the introduction and expansion of renewable energy by making efforts to promote and value the appeal of renewable energy.
