Eurus Energy Starts Operation of Eurus Shiratori Battery Park
– Contributing to the Stable Supply of Electricity through Eurus Energy Group’s First Grid Storage Battery Business –

2024.01.18

Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation (“Eurus Energy”) announced today that the construction of the Eurus Shiratori Battery Park, the Eurus Energy group's first grid storage battery station*1 in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, has been completed and started commercial operation on January 17, 2024.

As the introduction of renewable energy continues to expand into a primary source of electricity, the amount of power generated by renewable sources such as wind power and solar power is affected by seasonal and weather conditions. Therefore, there are growing expectations to use grid storage batteries as a means of adjusting these fluctuations.

Having been selected by Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy for its "Project to Support the Introduction of Grid Storage Batteries, etc. to Accelerate the Introduction of Renewable Energy,” Eurus Energy has initiated the first grid storage battery business within the Eurus Energy group. The grid storage batteries installed in this project consist of lithium-ion batteries with an output of 1.5 MW and a storage capacity of 4.58 MWh, and it is connected to the power grid of Kyushu Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Co., Inc. Through Eurus Green Energy Corporation, the grid storage batteries will be used for power adjustment and will help to stabilize the supply of electricity through power market*2 transactions.

Based on our corporate philosophy of "Helping to preserve the global environment by disseminating and expanding clean energy technologies", Eurus Energy will continue to work on further expansion of wind power and solar power generation and contribute to global environmental conservation and the creation of a sustainable society.

1 Facilities that connect storage batteries to grid independently.
2 Balancing energy market, Japan Electric Power Exchange, Capacity market, etc.
