EDF power solutions Polska and Eurus Energy are partnering on the Kobiernice battery project

EDF power solutions Polska and Eurus Energy Europe jointly announced yesterday the establishment of a joint venture for the development, construction and operation of a 120 MW-280 MWh utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Porąbka, Poland. The project, initially owned and developed by EDF power solutions Polska, will soon enter construction and target a commercial operation in the second half of 2027.

This partnership combines EDF power solutions’ strong local presence in Poland and expertise in developing, building and operating BESS projects, with Eurus Energy’s international expertise as a global power producer.

“Our partnership with Eurus Energy on the Kobiernice BESS project is important in the project’s life and marks a significant step forward into the rich cross-country collaboration between the two companies. It is a key step in building EDF power solutions Polska's energy storage portfolio” says Alicja Chilińska-Zawadzka, CEO of EDF power solutions Polska.

“The Kobiernice BESS project marks our first major step in Poland, where we see significant opportunities in renewable energy and energy storage markets. We look forward to further expanding the partnership between EDF power solutions and Eurus Energy Group worldwide.” says Hidenori Mitsuoka, Managing Director of Eurus Energy Europe.

The development of energy storage systems is a response to the growing need for flexibility in the Polish energy mix as it will support system balancing, strengthen grid reliability and therefore facilitate further integration of renewable energy sources.

The Kobiernice project is the first partnership between EDF power solutions Polska and Eurus Energy in the field of large-scale energy storage in Poland.
